Day Out With Thomas Train...a.k.a. "Grant Day"

Well, our family has officially made November 19th "Grant Day." Now, I know some of you are thinking everyday is Grant Day, but we made this day officially his day. We felt that he would be able to eat and drink what he wanted (with some advice) and see/do what he wanted. We all took a day out of our busy schedules and went to see Thomas Train. We traveled about one hour to see Thomas at a museum. We had purchased the tickets about three months ago, so we were excited the day finally arrived.

We started the day by waking Grant up with some Will Smith "Summertime" going in the background and Mommy and Daddy dancing. Grant woke up, looked at us and shook his head in dismay. Oh yeah, it is Grant's Day, so get up....yeah, we had to force him out of the bed due to our weird awakening.

We put on our short-sleeve Thomas Train shirt that Gramma had gotten us. Yeah, short-sleeve because it was going to be (and did get up to) 96 degrees. Need I remind anyone that it is November 19th...can we really afford to ignore the global warming thing any longer?? I think not!! Anyway, we got dressed and met the family (Gramma, Grandpa, Aunt Kris, and Uncle Nick) at the house.

We loaded up in the Armada and headed for Thomas. Once we were there, we started walking among the crowds of people. There were over 35,000 people at this event last year and we were going on the last day!! Yikes. We immediately took our ride on Thomas and Grant sat with his Grandpa for this one. We enjoyed our ride, some model trains, live music, photo opportunities and a slice of pizza.

At the end of the day I asked Grant what his favorite part of the day was and he said the store (where we purchased a Thomas book and Gramma got him a balloon). However, Grant's second favorite thing was a hay maze...yes, a maze made of hay stacks. He ran it about four times before we had to get out of the heat. Now, we are trying to figure out how many stacks of hay it would take because it would really be a great form of "wearing him out." haha

We ended our day at a local, Mexican restaurant where there were dueling Mariachi bands playing. Grant took straws out of my diet coke and water and used them as drum sticks, mocking one of the band players. He thoroughly enjoyed the band and food.

When we returned home, we had a tired camper and unfortunately had to deal with something we haven't had to ever experience before...a sick kid. He threw up twice and it came out of the other end just as bad for a couple of hours. Once we got some Pedialyte and made a few calls for advice, his tummy settled and he fell asleep. Poor guy...you should be exempt from ailments if it has been declared officially "YOUR DAY!!" He feels much better now.
