Grant Got the Game Ball!

Well, this is our first year of official T-ball! Grant has really enjoyed it and is improving every game. He was selected to be on the Giants team! Last week, he received the game ball. He was so proud. As you can see in the picture below, he is smiling ear to ear! Good job son, you make us so proud.

Easter 2010

We had a great Easter. We went to church and I played in the handbell choir. It was our debut performance. Then, we had an Easter Egg Hunt in the back of our church. This was fun, too! We went to brunch at the Dockside Grill. When we got home, we had an Easter Egg Hunt just for Grant where he found 45 eggs! Good job! Then, we watched some movies and got to feel an earthquake. Wow! The only thing that would have made it perfect is if my dad was here!!! We miss you Grandpa Bill!

My Little Giant

So, as most of you know, Grant is a Giant! No, I am not saying he is big for his size (although he is over 4' tall and only 5 1/2 years old), but I am referring to tee ball. Grant decided to join t-ball this year. He really has been improving every single practice. It is very fun! They have about 15 games and it goes until the middle of June! Wow! I didn't really realize the commitment we got ourselves into, but he really likes it. He has made some great friends and I am very proud of him.
I also included the celebratory picture that I took of Scott and Grant! We were undefeated at that time...LOL, they don't really keep score in t-ball. Oh, but some of the parents do...I will not go into that. ;)

Grant and his Best Friend

Well, there are a lot of perks with being a teacher. One perk is that we are offered specials throughout the year. Universal Studios in Hollywood was offering a free admission for teachers that worked in SoCal. Also, their family members are 1/2 price (up to 3 people)!

So, guess where we went a few weeks ago? You guessed it...Universal Studios. We were celebrating Grant's report card. He did very well academically and behavior is still improving. He still has a small problem with not yelling out answers (at least he knows the answers, right?) and listening (I think...oops, maybe the apple doesn't fall too far). Anywho, we were so proud of him. He reads at a 4th grade level, he does math, he writes full sentences, he helps others, he plays well with others and yea, on occasion...he shouts out an answer or two. ;)
Well, he was not excited to go to Universal Studios...until we told him that we thought Lisa and Aunt Kris were going and that it was like Disneyland. Grant had a blast and got to meet his BEST FRIEND in person....CURIOUS GEORGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dumb Luck!

So, Aunt Diney decided to get Grant a Snuggie for Christmas. She knows that we go camping all of the time and that he likes Cars stuff. So, she saw a Snuggie that had Lightning McQueen on it. When Grant opened the gift at Christmas, he was excited to get what he thought was a Lightning McQueen blanket. But, when we pointed out that it was a Snuggie, he went WILD! He was jumping up and down. Then, he threw himself on the ground and proceeded to pretend to be sleeping with his Snuggie. Then, he was up again. Take my picture! Et cetera.

Well, Aunt Diney started telling Grandma how it was "dumb luck" that she bought this because she did not know how much he loved Snuggies.

Grant turns to Aunt Diney and says, "Aunt Diney, thanks so much for the dumb luck!" We could not stop laughing which of course encouraged Grant to continue to refer to his new Snuggie as "Dumb Luck." I had to share.

January 2010, Good So Far!

Well, Scott and I just got back from a cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. The cruise was great! We had a great time and were excited to get back. We were so excited that we were the first off of the boat....why? Well, if you know us, that does not sound like us at all. What would make us act that crazy? Our son. Yes, Grant.

We received an email one week before our cruise indicating that Grant was receiving an award on that Friday that our ship came back. The ceremony was at 8:45 am. We were set to dock by 7:30am. Well, we didn't know if it could happen but we figured we should try. They didn't tell us what the award was for, in fact we speculated anywhere from a fundraising award to an academic award.

Well, out of twenty other classmates in his kindergarten class, he was chosen to be one of four to receive an award. The award was in the area of Language Arts for being an "amazing Accelerated Reader." We are so proud. I would post pictures, but I have two reasons not to do so. Oh, and yes, if you could not figure out...we made it to the award ceremony. Thank you Grandpa Gary for getting up so early and coming to get us!

Two reasons I am not posting a pic on here. One is that my camera is on the brink (although I took some yesterday). Second reason is because I am a little weird about someone scrolling the Internet and finding out what elementary school my son goes to...which was posted on every ounce of every picture I took. :)

WE ARE TOO PROUD!!! Grant is reading at a third grade level and he loves to read. :)

Our Little Shepard Boy

Grant was a shepard again this year in the church Christmas program. He practiced his two songs and his three lines. He was ready. We went to the rehearsal...which was a little chaotic. Everything was good. It was almost too smooth. I was worried.

The day of (last Sunday), we arrived and put on our costume. The excitment was in the air. In fact, the excitement was starting to get to Grant. He became a little "wild." So, I had to regulate. Then, he met up with his two shepard buddies (Andy and Andrew). Then, they gave the boys five foot staffs. OH MY!!!

Bottomline, he read his line, sang his songs and did not hit anyone with the staff (a couple of stars and flags...but no people). :) It was success!!! I was so proud. What was the reward? Playdoh Spaghetti Factory. No, I am not kidding. Oh, and the privilege to continue to play Fishville.
