Happy Birthday, Jessica!!

Well, yesterday was Jessica's 23rd birthday!! It was a lot of fun! Grant and I met everyone at Buca Di Beppo!!! Grant loved it! He was singing the "Happy Birthday" song on the way over. He was talking about cake and ice cream (please leave out the "r" sound for the full effect). He ate so well. He ate spaghetti, alfredo with noddles, garlic bread (the kid never eats bread products!), and spamoni?? (I hope I spelled that correctly). He had a blast and lasted the entire party. Happy Birtday, Jessica (we had a blast!). Oh, look for Jessica...she's singing in front of Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowle?? next Saturday...yeah, she made it to the second cut!! (which means she can sing in front of the "real" judges) GOOD LUCK!!

A New Haircut!!

Grant is no stranger to the barber. I am not sure if you call our barber a barber or a hairstylist. He is not in a barber shop, but instead he owns a children's haircut place. It is really cute and Grant has been going to the same guy since his first haircut (at 6 months old). Denny has seen Grant at least a dozen times since then. So, here is Grant showing off his new haircut. When I got the camera out Grant said, "Cheese" and smiled at the camera. Then, he got off of the couch and ran over to see what the picture looked like on the digital. He said, "Gant." I had to agree!! He is such a sweetie and so cute!!!! The above pictures are my attempt to a before and after picture.

School Is Back in Session! But this is funny!
Anyway, I digress. I got home from work yesterday (the official third day of school) and surprisingly, I was tired. haha I walk in the door and Scott says to Grant,"Who is it?" Grant comes barreling around the corner of the hallway yelling, "Mommy!!" Wow!! My students were not this excited to see me. Grant looks at me and seriously holds up a microphone (that he has taken off of his piano/keyboard) and says, "Mommy sing." Alright, so I admit it, I sang a Wiggles song (yes, I know a couple of them...don't tell anyone...I'll deny it). After I am done (and yes, my kid is dancing to my song...well, my Wiggles song), he claps and says, "Yeah, you did it!" So, I pass the mic to him and he does it and we dance and clap...then to Scott and we dance and clap...back to Mommy. Well, you see were this is going. Oh, did you picture me still with my lunch, purse and school stuff in my hands...yeah, rewind and picture that.
It's nice to be home when you have such a supportive two-year-old and a hubby who loves to Karoke!! Enjoy!

Just a Cute Note
So, last night same old thing. However, when we went out to pick out the books he had his "You Can Name 100 Trucks" book and a book by Charles Schulz about wanting a dog for Christmas. This is the deal, it was my second day of school, I was exhausted and the Charlie Brown book was way too long. So, I tried to slip in the "Mo's Stinky Sweater" book (a favorite of Gmans) or "The Secret Birthday Message"....NO, that would not do, we had to have the Charlie Brown book. Okay, fine. As I handed Grant his milk, he ran to his bedroom with excitement and I tossed the Charlie Brown book on the coffee table in the living room and thought I had won a victory.
So, I turn on the night light and get ready to read and noticed...puppies were not in bed. Now, I could care less if puppies were in bed or not, but this would pose a problem for Gman later on. So, as a preventative measure I ask Grant, "where are puppies?" He jumps out of bed and heads to the living room where he had left them both. As he is coming through the door, I realized the funniest thing...Grant was carrying two puppies and the Charlie Brown book. He handed me the book and gave me the look of "you must have dropped it." I couldn't stop laughing. I read it happily and after five more books he fell asleep.
That kid is smart!! I like his style!! He makes me laugh!! I was so tired yesterday and that is what a wonderful child like Grant can do for you....lift you up! Enjoy the Labor Day weekend! DON'T LABOR!

Utah Or Bust!!

There was a bowling tournament that Scott was in over this past weekend. His league that he plays in (that I use to play in) held its final tournament (hopefully we can get another one together with the same people). Although Vegas is a fun place, it is not meant for kids. So, I arranged a wonderful trip to drop Scott off in Vegas while Grant and I continued on to Enoch, Utah. We have some friends that live in Enoch, Stacey, Jeremy and their nearly 17 month old, Joshua!!
We arrived on Friday just in time for dinner. My friend Stacey is a WONDERFUL cook, so I was looking forward to her food!! She was so nice that she looked up a Weight Watchers recipe for me and made a meal around my diet!! Thank you and it was great!! In fact, I am making Taco Soup for Scott and Gman tomorrow!
We scrapped until our hearts could not scrap anymore...well, until I had to leave on Sunday. We only had four hours of sleep the first night, that is how obsessed we are with scrapping (especially when we get together...no one wants to be the "first to quit"). We didn't really know how it was going to go with the boys, so we were just going to play it by ear.
Well, as you can see in the pictures, the boys loved to play with one another. Joshua is not obsessed with cars (which is good b/c Grant is). The two played well together with little guidance from the Mommy's. I captured a few moments of shear bliss from the two (i.e. Sitting on the couch watching Nemo, chasing bubbles and dancing around about it, pushing each other on the "car," and sharing the Aquapro that Grant received from Joshua for his birthday...thanks again).
We had a great time in Utah and appreciate the hospitality of our friends. Thanks for the fun and I love the pictures of the boys!! Joshua is such a cutie!! I love his smile and beautiful eyes!! He and Grant share a kindered spirit...a love of life and bubbles!

Brushy, Brushy...Did Someone Say, Dentist?

Grant had his second dentist visit!! I think all things considered, he did well. If screaming you heart out for three (VERY LONG) minutes constitutes "doing well." Then, Grant was the perfect child.
It all started the day before when the dentist office called to remind us that Grant had his "six-month checkup." Okay, I say and then immediately find out from Scott am I going to have to take him?? I remember Scott telling me from the first visit that I wouldn't be able to handle the situation because Grant gets so upset. Okay, well Scott is still reroofing and working at the shop, so I couldn't get out of it.
I prepared Grant as best as I could (minus the short notice). I told him repeatedly that we (meaning him) were going to the dentist tomorrow and they were going to look at his beautiful teeth. They would even give him good tasting toothpaste (which he loves). I told him they would clean his teeth and if he was really good, I would buy him some more playdoh (the kids loves playdoh...actually he is quite obsessed with the stuff).
Well, throw all that out the door...as soon as we arrived they pretty much called us back. Therefore, Grant did not get to enjoy all the games and toys they have in the lobby. So, the first step of the negotiations goes on...I talk him into going with me because I had some "Cars" stickers. I had one of "Sally car" which is his favorite (well, the past two weeks, she has been his favorite...it changes often). So, we are not doing X-rays (per request by Grant...when I say request, just picture him going CRAZY on the chair). The nurses decide they can check when they are in his mouth.
Next, to the room with the chair. I was able to keep him entertained until the dentist showed up and he was great with the dentist. He let her look at every tooth and tap on them. She said he has zero cavities, great teeth, missing two molars, and she could tell we brush his teeth well.
NOW FOR THE CLEANING. I would say that at this point, I should have left the building. Grant instantly was done when the dentist was done. Either he understood her when she said his teeth look great and no cavities or he was just DONE with sitting in this chair. Probably the latter of the two, anyway, he was not happy about the cleaning. So, $75 later, he has clean teeth and it only took her three minutes. Now, the three minutes seemed pretty long for the fit he was throwing, but short for $75 worth of cleaning. All in all, a good experience and a great place to take your kid. The doc even let me take pictures of her while she was checking his teeth out (as you see above).
I took him for a Happy Meal and ice cream (of which he mostly wanted the "Hummer" car inside of the Happy Meal more than the food). We also went to play at the indoor play area in the mall.
